Park Hyatt Kyoto

We picked Park Hyatt Kyoto for our 9th Wedding Anniversary, and the team made the occasion unforgettable. Thoughtful surprises, genuine congratulations, and careful attention to the celebration really touched us. We’ll cherish the experience and can’t wait to return. The staff seemed to understand our family so intuitively. They remembered our favorite drinks, what the children needed, and our plans for the day, so we never had to repeat ourselves. Everyone we met knew our names and preferences. It made us feel like the only guests there. What stayed with us was the combination of precise, professional service and real warmth. The team did far more than provide a room, they shaped an experience that felt personal and full of heart. From arrival to our reluctant departure, they went beyond what we expected. Thank you to everyone for making our anniversary so magical.

My three nights were wonderful, though I wish I’d booked a fourth. Next time I’m in Kyoto, I’ll make an exception to my usual habit of trying somewhere different and come back here. The Japanese breakfast was a treat. I’d recommend the 7AM slot, when you can eat in peace and watch the sun rise. The welcome gift was Amaou strawberries from Fukuoka, some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The property is spectacular, with about ninety rooms right by the entrance to Higashiyama’s pedestrian area. I enjoyed the walk through the corridors and gardens between my room and the entrance every day. The staff were excellent, attentive, and accommodating. The bathroom was just right, without any strange windows into the bedroom or other odd design choices I kept encountering at other hotels. This may be one of the best stays I’ve had across all my travels.

We stayed three nights in the first week of February 2026, and mornings at Kyoto Bistro became a favorite ritual. Breakfast was consistently delicious, with high-quality ingredients and excellent service. We loved sitting by the windows and watching life along historic Ninenzaka street. We also shared a kaiseki lunch with friends at the partner restaurant, Sanso Kyoyamato. The beautifully presented, well-balanced dishes, serene space, and attentive service made it a memorable meal. One evening, my partner’s favorite bar of the stay was Kohaku Bar. He loved the expertly made cocktails and intimate, beautiful setting, with views over Yasaka Pagoda and the Kyoto skyline. The fitness and wellness areas were a peaceful, restorative way to unwind after exploring. The room felt like a sanctuary, spacious and thoughtfully appointed, with plenty of storage and a calming look. The whole property is beautifully integrated into its historic surroundings, giving a strong sense of Kyoto. It’s in the heart of Higashiyama, with iconic sights just steps away. Mr. Toshiki at the front desk and the rest of his team were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. They also treated our friends graciously when they visited between sightseeing outings. Even our arrival, at the hotel’s discreet front parking, felt personal. Check-in was smooth and unhurried, and the welcome was sincere. Park Hyatt Kyoto has become our favorite property. We’re already hoping to return soon. It was an unforgettable stay.

The garden was lovely and calming, and the bar was a highlight, especially for its amazing view. I also had one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever tried. Service was genuinely great, polished, attentive, and professional. The room felt small, particularly beside Four Seasons Kyoto, where there’s noticeably more space and comfort. We also ran into some Wi-Fi problems, disappointing for a hotel at this level. It’s a lovely property with excellent service and standout moments, but I expected more overall and it didn’t meet all my expectations.
