Minshuku Moriyama

My return flight was canceled because of bad weather, and I ended up stranded at Hitakatsu Port. Once it got dark, I called several places to stay in Hitakatsu, but group tour agencies had already booked them all. I had no accommodation and was left facing a night outdoors. Then the kind Mr. Mo Oyama from Jin Rent-a-Car introduced me to a minshuku, a private inn. Moriyama Minshuku is run by a Korean-Japanese couple, and I’m writing to thank them for their kind hospitality. The phone number listed on Google Maps is wrong, so please use the one in the photo. If you’re driving, your navigation may not get you all the way there. After crossing the bridge to the entrance, go through the next alley as shown in the picture.

I think Moriyama House may be why I fell in love with Tsushima Island. The owners speak Korean and were incredibly welcoming and kind. The rooms were spotless, and their quality and condition took my breath away. Recently, I had a wonderful day there with a close friend, a brother and sister-in-law, who gave me so many compliments. The optional BBQ dinner they grilled was really filling, and the next morning we had a hearty Japanese-style home breakfast. It’s the best accommodation, with no frills, restrictions, or limitations. I’m sorry I can’t visit often. Until next time, owner, stay healthy.

I’m so happy we chose Moriyama Minpaku for my first Tsushima trip with my parents. The owners were kind, the Japanese-style house was beautiful, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. It’s out in the countryside, 35 minutes by car from Hitakatsu Port, with nothing else nearby, but we loved that too. For reservations, don’t use the official website. Call the owner’s number from the business card I provided using an international calling app. The owner speaks Korean well.
