There were only chopsticks at breakfast, with no knives or forks, and nobody spoke English. The hotel doesn’t seem set up for European visitors.

The natural hot springs were lovely, and breakfast was delicious. Overall, I was very satisfied with the inn, though I think the facilities and the way staff speak with customers could be improved. After dinner, I was putting ice in the water heater in my room to make a drink when the front desk person spoke to me in a very forceful tone: “Please stop, it will break. Please tell us your room number and we'll replace it.” I looked into it later and found that adding ice really could break the water heater. I was partly at fault for not knowing, but I felt they could have told me more calmly. The bed had a single-size mattress with a large futon on top. Sitting on the edge made it easy to lose my balance, so I had to be a little careful.

The breakfast buffet had a reasonable selection, somewhere between luxurious and simple. There’s a comfortable large public bath, though it isn’t very big, and men and women use the two baths at different times. The guest room facilities look old but have been renovated and are clean. You can pick a pillow in the lobby, and cosmetics and toothbrushes are available there too. The indoor wear comes in one size.
