Kangetsuso

Excellent.

We stayed from R7.9.30 to 10.1. The bathroom and toilet are shared, and our room didn't have a refrigerator, so we asked the landlady to keep our food at the restaurant until the next day. Our Japanese-style room was a little old, but very clean. Dinner included a delicious fish dish. I wish we could watch BS on the room TV. We're curious about their famous Kangetsu Inari and Shofuku Ohagi.

The soft-shelled turtle hotpot was our dinner, and the rice porridge at the end was amazing. We ate in a table area by the inn entrance, which made me feel a bit uneasy. We slept soundly on futons laid over the tatami in what seemed like a large hall. It brought back memories of staying with my cousins in the countryside near my mother's hometown. We were in the detached building, apparently a renovated house that used to house fishermen, and it had a lovely atmosphere. I did wonder if more work was still needed. A few more dishes and kitchen utensils would make it comfortable for overnight stays.

I've seen other reviews say this too, but I wonder if they make a habit of misrepresenting how many dishes are included. The cooking is good, but the person running the inn has the worst character. Because of this place, I won't ever go to Shimabara again.
