Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay

We were really grateful for how they handled our headphones after we accidentally left them behind. We didn’t notice until a week later, but the hotel had kept them safe and quickly arranged to mail them back when we got in touch. The staff were helpful and attentive throughout, too. Our room was clean and spacious, with a huge bathroom that made traveling as a family easier. Both the regular bed and sofa bed were comfortable. The free shuttle to Disney was convenient, though it got crowded around park opening. We had a wonderful stay and would come back.

Bisu made the stay for us. He was friendly and helpful the whole time, pointing us toward local places to eat and helping us catch the shuttles to Disney and the train station. We also enjoyed chatting with him about local culture and hearing a little about his family. When we arrived, Bisu and the other staff welcomed us, took our bags, and got them up to the room quickly. Check-in was easy.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, though it costs about $25 USD and isn’t included. The gym is small but does the job, and the rooms were fine with no complaints. It’s clearly a family-focused place, so there may be kids running around. The hotel was clean, with the usual Japanese hygiene standards and outstanding service. A free, reliable shuttle to the JR station takes about ten minutes, and it’s around thirty minutes from there to Tokyo Central Station. No reservation was needed for the shuttle. I’d stay here again.

The rest of the hotel staff worked hard and were attentive during our stay, so I know it may be unfair to base my rating largely on breakfast. Still, the restaurant service was extremely poorly managed. We got there at 8 a.m. and waited more than half an hour, even though the dining room wasn’t close to full. Nobody cleared our plates while we ate, so we did it ourselves. Seeing staff sort other guests’ food leftovers right in front of us during the meal was unpleasant. I understand Japan has strict recycling and waste-sorting rules, but I’ve never seen food waste handled so visibly in a dining area. When we left, a long queue had formed; some guests had waited nearly an hour and were complaining to managers. I felt bad for them. This was mid-November, not a holiday or weekend, and I can’t imagine what breakfast is like in peak season. I’ve been loyal to Hyatt for years, but this made me question whether keeping my membership or choosing Hyatt for future trips is worthwhile.
