Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Ureshinokan

I only visited for the onsen and didn’t stay overnight. For the price, the facilities are good: there’s an indoor bath, an outdoor bath, a sauna, and a cold bath. I went on two different mornings, and it was empty both times.

The buffet was a real highlight, with lots of choices and delicious food at both dinner and breakfast. The sashimi was especially good. The hotel also has plenty to do, including an onsen, a shop, a playground, a manga area, and massage chairs. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room.

At first I thought I could overlook finding toothpaste left behind by the previous guest, but later that night I noticed both toothbrush sets were open. I asked my wife if she had opened them, and she said she hadn’t. I could only imagine I’d been holding a stranger’s used toothbrush. That was a terrible experience, and the trip was ruined for me. The hotel looks refurbished in many areas, and I’m fine with a place having some history. But the service and hygiene still need to meet a proper standard. Staff should be checking that the bathroom items are clean and unused. I hope people choose somewhere better.

The room could have been cleaner, and getting the bath water to the right temperature was tricky. Still, the air conditioning is strong, and there’s a coin laundry and a mart nearby. There’s also a foot bath and free massage equipment if you don’t want to use the onsen, plus an arcade and karaoke. I wouldn’t mind staying again.
