Ryokan Hatsuneso

A very nice place to stay, and the food was good too.

We were four in the family, with a 4-year-old girl and a 5-month-old boy. The staff carried our stroller and bags up to the room, which was helpful since there’s no elevator, just stairs. Anyone with mobility issues should keep that in mind. The kids and parents were happy with the generous standard dinner. They also had a baby crib and bouncer in the dining area, plus diapers, formula sticks, and children’s slippers available to borrow. Our room, toilet, and bathroom were clean. There’s just one private family bath, and its changing area is small, so be aware of that. It was a satisfying stay for both the children and us.

Our 3-year-old and 2-year-old had a great time in the attraction room, climbing the ladders, going down the slides, and playing with toys brought over from the playroom in the little hideaway space. This hotel is set up for family trips. The room and bathroom have child-friendly touches, including tatami flooring and foam shampoo suitable for infants. You can borrow toys, books, and DVDs from the playroom to take back to your room. There are also events like gachapon after meals, a shopping experience, and a thank you tip. The staff were warm with the kids and made us parents feel welcome too. They provide formula, baby food, and diapers for free, which made the trip with children feel easy. It was a lovely stay.

The kids were delighted by the free candy fishing and gachapon, and the staff were so warm with them. I was especially impressed by how much they interacted with my child. The food was lovely too, beautifully presented, tasty, and served in generous portions. Rice refills and shaved ice were free, which made us both happy. There’s a big selection of baby supplies, from food, diapers, and stick formula to breast pads, children’s moisturizer, and body wash, so you can practically arrive empty-handed. Rooms have potty chairs, booster seats, soft tatami mats, and little things like lanterns to keep children occupied. The play area is aimed at infants and toddlers, though older kids can also use the toys and DVDs, including Mario, Sumikko Gurashi, Pop-Up Pirate, and word games. The hot spring was great. The tatami flooring made it less slippery and I felt safe bathing with my child. The water felt a little slippery, and my skin didn’t seem to dry out much afterward. Food, service, facilities, and cleanliness were all excellent, with especially thoughtful touches for families. I’d happily go back, and recommend it for a relaxing meal with children.
