The food was plentiful and felt quite special, so we wondered if we’d manage to finish it. We were there on a family trip, and the inn staff were very kind and looked after us well.

We had a two-day, one-night girls’ get-together at Wakasa Mikata "Ryori Ryokan Nagata". There was so much sashimi that we couldn’t finish it, and we were 200% satisfied 😋
The bath was clean and a decent size, and the room was roomy and clean for what we paid. We came with the kids as a family. The rice was good, and we enjoyed the sashimi, tempura, and simmered dishes. The meat was a little underwhelming, if I had to pick something. We were very happy with the quality for the price.
The rice stood out most for me, it tasted better than ever. We chose the most standard seasonal kaiseki course, with Wakasa pufferfish and snow crab. The seasonal dishes were delicious too. Someone from the inn told us they don’t use special rice, but the water is good, which seems to be why people find it tasty.
The food was just the right amount for me, and it was delicious. The room also made a lovely first impression. The weather wasn’t great, and we took a rather late walk along the lakeside, but the autumn colors on the nearby mountains and the sparkling water of Lake Suigetsu were refreshing.
