The shuttle schedule is quite limited: it goes to the train stations once a day at 10:10 am and returns to the hotel at 3:30 pm. Getting here isn't easy, and after three nights in Wakayama, I think two nights or less would be enough. The surrounding scenery is nice, the service was generally good, and I liked breakfast. I tried dinner once, but didn't enjoy it as much. The baths were fine if you like Japanese-style bathing.

The room and service were pretty good, and the food was okay, but I have a lot of concerns about the Onsen. It's on an outdoor area on the third floor, and some spots have no railings. Since it's beside a mountain, it felt like you could fall. The bathing areas are separated for men and women because everyone has to be naked. The Onsen isn't very big, and I’d go during the day rather than at night. There were lots of bugs after dark, including spiders, moths, and ants, and cobwebs that staff didn't seem to remove. Going there alone at night felt scary too. I thought I saw something move by the staircase near the Onsen and ran back to my room, though it may have been my imagination. I wouldn't recommend a nighttime visit while staying here.

Service was all right, but the 11:30 pm to 6 am restriction is worth knowing about. One night the door was shut early, and I couldn't get back into the ryokan for about 15 minutes. With such limited opening hours, dinner has to be early or you miss it.
