A big rainbow greeted us on the day we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and check-out was quick and easy. Wakayama Castle is right nearby, which was a real plus. The area is quiet and scenic, and a walk around the castle in the evening was relaxing. The location isn’t the most central, but there are bus stops close by. Buses don’t come very often, so it’s best to check the schedule on Google Maps ahead of time. There’s a 24-hour FamilyMart on the ground floor, plus a McDonald’s that closes at 8 pm and a few nearby restaurants, so finding food wasn’t a concern. For the price, the hotel exceeded my expectations. I’d recommend it to travellers who like a quieter area and being near the castle.

The room was the most spacious of any hotel I stayed at in Japan on my 2025 trip. There was plenty of room for our luggage and for all five of us, plus a table with four chairs where I’d relax with sake or sparkling wine at the end of the day. The view was a highlight too: Wakayama Castle was visible from our room and the restaurant. Montigre shopping mall connects directly to the hotel, with McDonald’s, a bakery, Japanese restaurants, and a Family Mart. There are also some hidden gems nearby. I found a great ramen place and a cafe with a lovely strawberry parfait overlooking Ichihori River. Parking costs 2,000 Yen in the open-air lot, or 1,000 Yen per day at the lot opposite. It’s better to have transport here since Wakayama station is 1.8 km away unless you take the bus. The breakfast spread was okay, though nothing special. Of all the hotels I stayed at in Japan on this trip, this was probably the best.

We were happy with our stay and would come back to Wakayama. The room was small, but our 17th-floor room had a fantastic view of Wakayama Castle. The basics were covered, with a good shower and strong water pressure, plus nice toiletries. Coffee, tea, and other small personal items are available in the hotel lobby on Level 5. A 24-hour Family Mart on Level 1 made it easy to pick up anything else, and there are three coin-operated washers and dryers. A very pleasant surprise. Keep up the good work and service, Team Daiwa Roynet Wakayama!

The location isn’t exactly convenient, but the bus makes it okay to reach the train stations, and the hotel is next to Wakayama Castle. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was awesome, with local favorites like white bait, plums, and Yuasa soy sauce, as well as yummy French toast. We enjoyed it every day.

The staff were very friendly and I had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is clean and quiet, and its location is convenient, right beside Wakayama Castle. You can get a fabulous view of the castle by day and night. I’d definitely recommend it after such a great stay.
