Sun Hotel Wakayama

The service was excellent.

Good.

The rooms are fairly spacious, and I appreciated having separate trash bins. Lighting is dim, though, and the chairs have no backrests. There’s no large public bath, but each room has its own bath and toilet, so staying here is no problem. It’s a business hotel with reasonable single-room rates at 6,000 yen, close to the station, restaurants, and convenience stores. From Wakayama Station on the JR Kinokuni Line, it’s about a five-minute walk: take the west exit and continue west along Keyaki-dori Street. The hotel is one block behind the shopping area with izakayas and other places to eat. Being near the station makes it a good option if you’re leaving early for Mount Koya or Shirahama Town.

It’s an ordinary business hotel, conveniently located a short walk from JR Wakayama Station. Parking at the hotel is limited, so you’ll need to use a nearby coin lot. It costs 600 yen for 24 hours, which is pretty cheap for a station-area hotel. Breakfast is free, but it can run out if you don’t get there early, and they don’t restock it.
