Hotel Ikue

For two people, one night with two meals came to about 16,000 yen. Dinner had two mains, white fish and shrimp meunière plus a hamburger steak over 3 cm thick, lol. The burger had potato salad inside and was really good. There’s no elevator, and the large public bath is in the annex, a bit of a walk away. It switches between men and women every hour. The facility uses genuine hot spring water, and I wonder whether “Ikue” comes from Ikuei Onsen. I’d like to visit again.

There are stairs from the basement all the way to the third floor, so this place isn’t suitable for anyone with mobility issues and isn’t wheelchair accessible. The front desk is staffed by one man, so there may be a wait if several people arrive at once. My room had its own bathroom and toilet, so I could use those instead of the single large public bath. The bath has one tub and about four shower spots, with men and women taking turns by time, so check the schedule and consider how many people are in your group. Dinner was a daily set menu; rice, water, and coffee were self-serve. It was filling. There aren’t many nearby shops, just a supermarket. The hotel feels old, and there were coffee stains on the floor. The TV can handle satellite, but only terrestrial digital channels were available.

The building’s old and there’s no elevator, but it was clean and comfortable. With two meals included, I got a good deal.

Stayed on New Year’s Day. Great value, and the food was especially good. I’d recommend booking breakfast and dinner too.
