Kominka Guesthouse SENTŌ

A cosy guesthouse set in a converted Japanese house, with Wi-Fi available. The co-work area is upstairs on the second floor. Downstairs, the first floor has a large shared living room with a small kitchen area, toilets, and showers. On the Sento side there are two four-bed dormitories and one twin room. Check-in happens on a tablet in the new building, takes only a few minutes, and can be completed in one of four languages using either a check-in code or a QR code.

Our private room was much roomier than expected, with a modern feel, and it was really affordable. The kitchen and shared spaces were cute too. Such a well-kept, charming place to stay in Yakumo!

I spent almost eight weeks in Japan, and this is one of the best places I've stayed, maybe the best. It was spotless, and the host was incredibly helpful. You can choose a dorm, a private room with shared facilities, or a private room with its own bathroom. Don't rely on booking.com for availability: it showed no rooms, but every option was available when I arrived. If you need somewhere in the area, stay here.

It's clean and tidy, with a nice view of the garden, and it's quiet. The location in Yakumo is handy, close to everything in town, and there's good parking outside. The staff are helpful in every situation. What more could you need?
