The place was very clean, with a fully stocked kitchen, and it’s easy to walk to bus stops and restaurants. The owner was a great help throughout our stay and even suggested a good hike. We were there during a typhoon and our flight was cancelled. He drove us to the airport, and when there were no flights, he took us to the ferry so we could make a reservation.

We were only two, but the house could easily fit more people. It’s in a quiet part of Miyanoura, still within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and supermarkets, and parking is free. There are so many amenities that it feels like having a whole house to use. A big bonus was the selection of studio Ghibli movies, plus games and a Super Nintendo entertainment system. The host was great and very friendly.

Yakushima was my favorite place in Japan, so beautiful that I cried when I left. The host was friendly, kind, and helpful, and this is a really good place to stay. I recommend taking this house.

A super cozy Japanese-style house, with company futons and Princess Mononoke DVDs included!
