The food was the highlight for me. I looked forward to trying more of it every day. My girlfriend and I spent three nights here and had a delightful stay. Nathuki San was a lovely, gentle host, and the place was clean with a warm, homey feel. I’d happily recommend it.

Looking for home-cooked dinner? This is the place to stay, as long as you’re driving or don’t mind an hour-long bus ride from Miyanoura Port.

The meals were the standout, with a great menu for the price and something surprising each time. Even the rice was so sweet and tasty I could eat it on its own. We stayed as a couple, and found the room roomy. The shared bathroom and toilet were also spacious, comfortable, and kept clean. The inn staff made us feel welcome and took good care of us.

Dinner lived up to the reviews: flying fish sashimi, pork steamed with homemade ponzu, and oven-baked amberjack collar with homemade shio koji. I ended up eating three bowls of rice, then had seconds at breakfast. Even the grated daikon was seasoned, a nice bit of care. I ordered a sake tasting set because I knew I had to try Aiko, got pretty drunk, and went straight to bed. I was here to hike Mt. Mochomu, which is right in front of the inn and looks beautiful. They kept my luggage in the morning and let me check in a little late. After I came down the mountain, they lent me shampoo and towels for my trip to Onoma Onsen, which I really appreciated. The hot springs were incredibly hot, but everyone greeted me and it was a great visit. Thank you so much.

The inn is a little far from Yakushima Airport, though it’s close to Hiranai Undersea Hot Springs and Yakushima Karin, and worked well as a base for sightseeing. The surrounding nature was lovely too. Inside, the warm atmosphere made it easy to relax and forget the bustle of everyday life. The staff were gentle and friendly while giving guests a comfortable amount of space. My room was spacious and very clean, and the inn had the amenities I needed. The bath was clean and roomy, a nice place to unwind after a long day. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, especially the fresh local seafood, including bonito and flying fish. The dishes made good use of Yakushima’s ingredients, there was plenty of variety, and I was satisfied after every meal. The thoughtful hospitality and comfortable space made for lovely memories. I’d gladly recommend this inn to anyone visiting Yakushima, and would stay again.
