Tashiro Ryokan Annex

The tatami room was roomy enough for two, and ours looked out over the river. There was plenty of parking, and both breakfast and dinner came with the stay each day. The servings were generous, and it was quiet at night. The building has some history, so the decor is a little old, though the place was generally clean. Staff were very polite and friendly, but English communication was difficult. There's a public bath at the hotel, though we didn't use it.

It's a 2-star hotel and definitely old school, but the people here are so welcoming and friendly. They clearly put thought into making foreign guests feel considered, which is why I wanted to write this. Simple, spacious rooms, a lovely vibe, and they put a lot of work into the food. Such a fun experience!

I really liked the spacious room, with its lovely river and mountain view. The facilities were decent, especially if you enjoy traditional Japanese-style rooms. The baths were lovely too, with a sauna and cold bath. The outside of the building isn't attractive, and some areas inside could use refurbishment. Breakfast was mostly the same each day, except they changed the grilled fish. The food wasn't anything special, but it was fine.

The staff were very friendly, and a few could speak a little English. We enjoyed our stay. The meals were mostly the same, apart from the fish, and the flying fish was delicious both deep-fried and as sashimi. I also loved the udon and onsen egg at breakfast. The room was a simple, clean traditional Japanese-style setup with its own bathroom. Guests could use the public hot bath and sauna for free during their stay.
