Oyo Hotel New Mogamiya Yamagata Station

It's close to the station, which is great, and the bathroom was spacious and nice. But the room was a little dusty, and I'd have been more impressed if the staff's attitude and service were better. When I went to check out in the morning, there was nobody there.

The receptionist was so kind and helpful. My room was clean and well-equipped, and the location couldn't be better, just a two-minute walk from the train station. I stayed two nights.

Breakfast runs from 7-8 am, and they'll ask what time you'd like to eat. The Japanese set meals are laid out in the tatami banquet hall on the 3rd floor, and they can make you hot matcha or provide iced water. The elderly staff were very helpful and explained things carefully. The location is convenient too, about 100 meters from the station, so getting dinner isn't a problem. It's an older hotel, so the facilities are dated, but the room table was clean and didn't smell, and despite the years the floor wasn't dirty. My white socks stayed clean even though the carpet had some marks. There were, unfortunately, traces of laundry left by a bad guest on the lampshade. For only NT$1000 with breakfast included, it was a very nice night.

Being able to go out shopping at night is easy since the entrance is unlocked. The place is clean and well-maintained despite the building's age, with roomy rooms and a simple but tasty breakfast. It's also very convenient, just a 3-minute walk from Yamagata Station.
