Tabist Lakeside Inn Fujinami Yamanakako

We left after just one night because we didn't feel comfortable there. The guest amenities were properly cleaned, but parts of the interior were derelict and closed off with makeshift barriers. Along with all the pest control products, that gave the place an eerie feel and made it seem unsafe to us.

It's a good, quiet spot for resting, and just outside the homestay there's a famous place to photograph swans. The room's Mount Fuji view is really the best thing about the stay, but seeing it depends on luck. We weren't able to see it while we were there 😩.

The mountain view from our room felt surreal, with the room facing it directly under clear skies. The owner was friendly, let us play with his shiba, and suggested a great izakaya. My girlfriend and I would definitely come back.

The balcony views are 11/10, and the location and service were excellent. The owner is lovely and the place is well kept. We visited in January when nighttime temperatures reached -8. The room was chilly at first, but the AC eventually kicked in. The one thing keeping me from giving five stars is that there's only one men's loo, on the ground floor. After a few beers, or with a weak bladder, getting there means taking three flights of stairs in the cold. The bidet seat is heated, so with the air being so cold you get this strange warm-butt, cold-breath feeling :)
