The meals were a highlight. Mostly river fish and vegetables, everything was delicious without feeling heavy, and there was plenty to eat. The hospitality was lovely too, from dinner service to the explanations. It really made us feel like we were in Yamanashi. We booked on Rakuten Travel, and the place looked even prettier in person than in the photos. Since the whole house is rented out, we expected to do most things ourselves, but the service was wonderful. Our dog could wander freely, and even at 15 years old he managed to walk around the single-story house with no trouble. It’s tucked away a little, so parking was tricky at first, but there was room even for a large SUV. We’re still enjoying the glow of the trip and feel ready for anything. We’d definitely love to come back.

The old-fashioned toys were a big hit with the kids. They played with kendama and karuta until bedtime and didn’t even touch the iPad. My wife and I thought that was a lovely touch. After escaping the city bustle, we had a really relaxing family stay, and the children are already saying they want to come back. We brought our Shiba Inu and the kids to this traditional inn. The building has so much character, and the space felt comfortable enough to live in for a while. The children ran around excitedly, exploring and saying how big it was. Our dog was unsure at first, then found a favorite spot and settled in. The roomy, dog-friendly rooms gave him space to move around somewhere new, which seemed like good stimulation for him. It was quiet at night, and he slept soundly even without his usual bed. Seeing how relaxed he was made me happy. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for pet-friendly accommodation.

Bonfires and fireworks have given us some lovely memories, and the kids and our dog always have a good time. We’re a family of three, and this was our third stay at Rufu. Each visit has its own character, so it never feels repetitive. The food is tasty, and the staff are warm and kind. We’ll definitely stay again.

Our one-and-a-half-year-old son was so excited that he ran around the whole time. We stayed with our family, our parents, and our dog, and had a really fun time enjoying the feel of the old Japanese house. The food was good, the staff were wonderful, and we’d like to come back.
