HOTEL MYSTAYS Fuji Onsen Resort

The shuttle to Kawaguchi Station was prompt and handy. We also found the check-in friendly and efficient, and the information sheet explaining how to use the Onsen was very helpful. We were three adults in a quad room with a Mt Fuji view, and the view was spectacular. The room had four beds, a small table with two chairs, a TV, fridge, separate shower room, and toilet, but not much space to move around. The fourth bed ended up holding our suitcases. Breakfast and dinner were included, with a great selection ranging from local food to familiar European dishes. It was my first time using an Onsen, and I really liked it, especially the outdoor section.

We were happy with the room for three. It was spacious, clean, and had plenty of amenities, and we had a clear view of Fuji during our stay. Breakfast was good, especially the tofu, which is worth trying. There’s also a free coffee machine in the lobby. Thank me later ;)

It’s an easy walk to Fuji Q Highland, which makes the hotel really convenient if you’re going to the theme park. The rooms are clean and modern, but the best part for me was the top floor onsen, soaking while looking at the mountain. The price was great compared with other hotels nearby. Most of all, waking up to Mt Fuji right outside my window was surreal. Just relaxing in the room with that view was the highlight of my trip.

The price dropped as soon as Mt. Fuji couldn’t be seen, but we’d already paid the higher rate and it was too late to cancel for a refund. Without the view, the room wasn’t worth it. It was old, and there was a stain on the curtain. Don’t expect service even if it’s a special occasion. There was no bottled water, and we were unlucky enough to get the last room at the end of the corridor, so it was a long walk to refill filtered water. We didn’t trust that the tap water was drinkable. You have to get fresh towels from the Front Office, and pajamas were always in short supply, so guests had to compete for them. Not recommended. I don’t understand why the rating is so high.
