Ryokan Warabino

The food was incredible, from the 8-course dinner to the traditional Japanese breakfast, and the traditional room was spacious and relaxing. We stayed two nights and would make the five-hour trip from Tokyo all over again. Staff were exceptionally friendly and kind, spoke some English, and made everything easy to navigate. They arranged an earlier breakfast so we could catch our flight and kindly offered to drive us to the train station so we could skip the local bus. The onsen felt heavenly. There are two open-air baths and one indoor bath that was practically a sauna. The standalone onsen had incredible views across the mountain range and Nagano.

There are only about 10-12 rooms, and the place was very quiet with plenty of privacy. Even though the ryokan was full, we barely saw other guests during our stay. Onsen use is rotated by room, so you don't share it with other guests. Breakfast and dinner were plentiful, and the staff were all kind and friendly. The room was comfortable, and we were very satisfied with the stay.

A lovely little getaway for a few days of relaxing in traditional Japanese accommodation with an onsen. The staff were so kind and accommodating, especially with my partner's many food allergies. They quickly replanned all the amazing food courses for him without any trouble. A great start to our trip to Japan.

Three onsens made for a really relaxing and unique stay, and the breakfasts and dinners were amazing multi-course traditional Japanese meals. The ryokan is just outside town, so it has a quiet, peaceful, authentic feel. My wife and I stayed four nights on our first trip to Japan, had an amazing time, and hope to return. Thanks to the Warabino Onsen staff!
