Hotel Balian Resort Yokohama Kannai - Adults Only

Such a pretty hotel.

Good.

I felt comfortable here and time went by quickly. The food and extra drinks I ordered were tasty, and the complimentary items near reception have been refreshed. The area looks cleaner and more streamlined now, with a wide selection of items, especially drinks and alcohol. The room I wanted was neat and tidy, and the room itself was in a great space. The staff were welcoming without being overbearing, especially the women. I do wish the male staff were a little friendlier, though that's just my personal preference and not my main concern. The front desk was clean, and the women's friendly manner helped me feel at ease. The extra food and drinks gave the stay a resort-like feel. The bath water stops filling automatically, and the heating worked well. The environment was very well maintained, and I was very satisfied. I'll stay here again.

I've used other branches in this chain for years and always been happy, so it's sad to see the Kannai location decline. The ramen they used to serve has been replaced with cheap pho, and the shampoo and conditioner aren't supplied in rental bottles anymore. The containers are always empty. There aren't many good hotels in Kannai, so Varian used to be my only choice. Now when I arrive late at night, they only allow overnight stays, not a short rest. I don't understand why overnight stays are allowed but resting isn't. If I just want to spend a few hours there, I'm forced to book overnight and nearly double the cost. Cutting costs is fine, but I wish they'd at least let me rest.
