This was the worst hotel we stayed at on our trip to Japan, and we found it overpriced for the quality and service. The room was cramped and dated, dark, and looked out on messy buildings with no view. At check-in, staff showed us a misleading photo of a so-called “luxury” room and tried to get us to pay an extra 3,000 yen to upgrade. We booked partly because the photos showed a pool, but using it costs extra, something the promotional pictures didn't make clear. When our child wanted to swim without the adults swimming, we were told the adults still had to pay just to accompany them. We also weren't given enough towels or amenities for the number of guests, unlike at the other hotels we stayed at in Japan. We even had to pay extra for a basic item, a towel for our child. That policy felt cheap and unfriendly. The poor service left the worst impression. When we raised the misleading pool advertising, the female manager at the front desk coldly told us, “That’s not our responsibility, talk to the platform you booked from.” There was no sense of accountability or hospitality, which was a shock after the service we'd experienced elsewhere in Japan. We'd had high hopes for Yokohama, but this stay spoiled the trip for us. I wouldn't recommend spending your time or money here.

A last-minute change of plans brought us to the Rose Hotel, and we ended up loving Yokohama. The hotel was a big part of that. It's well placed for local attractions, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Junko was especially kind and helpful from the moment we arrived, making sure we were settled and our travels went smoothly. The staff were so accommodating, and I'm grateful we got to spend time at Rose Hotel.

We chose this place for its location beside Chinatown. There are lots of cafes and restaurants nearby, and the staff were polite and spoke English. The rooms felt outdated, though, and ours had no towels at all on the first day. They gave us a 10% off breakfast coupon, but breakfast still seemed overpriced.

This historic hotel has been here since the 70’s, right in the middle of Chinatown. There are street shops and cafes all around, and it takes about 30 minutes by subway to get to the city center. Our room was clean and spacious, and the F&B outlets were good quality.

We had a tasty breakfast, though we didn't try any other meals there. Our room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning instructions were in English once we figured out the right setting. Staff were friendly, and the location was fantastic, right across from Chinatown and near the cruise port. There's also a convenience store close by.
