Hotel Fairy Yokohama

On our anniversary, I had booked the premium suite plan for room 903 several months ahead. I think it was around 30,000 yen. About ten minutes after we arrived, I spotted a live cockroach crawling across the bathroom floor. It was awful and ruined everything. Then someone brought us a welcome drink, and before I could even set it down, a live fruit fly was moving around in it. We quickly searched for another hotel, got ready, and left. When I later asked for a refund, they refused. It felt like paying 30,000 yen just to see a cockroach. I've never had a worse hotel stay, and I'll never go back.

We only ordered drinks this time, but there is a wide selection of food and drinks, so it could be worth stopping in for a meal after a break. The official website is easy to use and has the menu if you want to check it out. The male staff member who brought my drink was very nice, thank you. I'd definitely stay again if I get the chance to visit Yokohama. I missed my Shinkansen because the concert ended late and needed somewhere to lie down, stretch my legs, and sleep. A quick search on Happy Hotel showed rooms with open-air baths, so I chose Fairy. The entrance and exit are separate, and guests are asked to avoid running into each other as much as possible. The lobby is mostly unmanned: you choose a room on the touch panel, get a receipt, then take the elevator up. The room was comfortable in size, with karaoke and a water server. Mine had both a large indoor bath and an open-air bath, which I liked. But the karaoke speaker hanging from the ceiling was visibly dusty from a distance. Otherwise, dirt wasn't especially noticeable. The walls were a little thin, and I could hear someone singing in another room, but it didn't keep me from sleeping. Coming alone just to sleep in a place usually meant for couples was my own choice. Women get disposable skincare items, but there aren't many for men. They do have bottled, reusable skincare products, which men might want to use. I wondered if there'd be shaving cream, but there was a bottle of facial cleanser suitable for shaving and hair removal, which I was glad to find.

The room was spacious, and I liked the large water dispenser, big bathroom, and chair at the sink. It was an older-style room, though, and as other reviews said, the cleaning was concerning. The coffee-cup shelf was dusty, the black sofa was dirty, and there was white dust on the light and under the table. I wiped down the spots that bothered me myself. If it had been cleaned properly, I might have come back.

The location is handy, about five minutes from the station. The room was a bit dry, and while it wasn't dirty, it didn't live up to my expectations. It also wasn't as clean as the photos made it look. The staff's attitude and service weren't good, so I'm giving it one star.
