Super Hotel Yokohama Kannai

The one real plus for us was the location near the cruise terminal, which suited us since we were only here to board a cruise. There are also several places to eat nearby. The hotel itself wasn’t for me. Our room was so tight there was nowhere to put a suitcase, and barely room to walk around the bed. The bed was hard and the pillows were awful, so I couldn’t sleep properly. For what we paid over the weekend, I expected more. There’s no lobby or guest seating, so when we asked a few times to wait somewhere during the hot weather, they refused. We had to wander the streets or sit in a coffee lounge. They also wouldn’t let us check in even an hour early without charging us.

The rooms are small, modern, and clean, with comfortable double beds and big smart TVs. Friendly, helpful staff speak English. It’s across from the baseball stadium, right in town, so you can walk to everything.

The setup is great if you just need somewhere to sleep before heading out for the day. Rooms are tiny and have a luxury net cafe feel, but the amenities are surprisingly decent for a Japanese business hotel. China Town is a few minutes away on foot, Red Brick Warehouse about 20 minutes, and a large train station less than 10 minutes away. There’s a park directly across the street and a Family Mart downstairs. Breakfast is free from 6.30am, so get there early. In the evening, there’s a self-serve drink bar from around 5.00-8.00pm with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. You’ll find pillows and room wear by the elevators on each floor. The 2F lobby has extra toiletries, and other reviews say women can ask the counter for skincare items. There’s no room key. They give you a receipt with your entry code, so it’s a good idea to photograph it in case you lose it. Check out is at 10.00am. There are only two small elevators, and they get very crowded in the morning and around check-in and checkout.

We found this a good-value hotel, within walking distance of Chinatown, the cup noodle museum, and the red brick building. Our family stayed a couple of nights, ate really well in Chinatown, and enjoyed the Christmas market at the red brick building. They also had a welcome drink available in the restaurant area, which was a nice touch.
