We chose the half-board plan with the crab feast during matsuba kani season, and dinner was very generous. The sashimi and kani were incredibly fresh. I love the homely feeling here, and the food is a big part of it. The onsen uses salt spring water, like seawater. I’ll definitely return.

Our family made special memories in Yonago during one night at Kaichoen. We had rented a car and were a little concerned about parking, but the spacious lot directly in front made it easy to park during the day and at night. The landlady, the male staff members, the older gentleman, and everyone else we encountered were very kind. We couldn’t fit in a visit to the private family bath, but the men’s and women’s bath locations alternate, so over our overnight stay we could try both hot springs. Since they’re seawater hot springs, my skin felt very smooth afterward. We also borrowed yukatas and took lots of family photos with the pretty central garden behind us. The inside of the inn was beautiful throughout. It was February, but the heating worked so well that we weren’t cold at all. We slept comfortably in a traditional tatami room with our 9- and 13-year-old children. There were also several nice izakayas nearby that we enjoyed.
