The facilities show their age, but the staff were attentive and friendly, including the older trainees who helped with luggage. Rooms are spacious and Japanese-style, some with extra room for luggage, and the bathrooms are well stocked. The prices are modest, and I’m already thinking I’d like to return. Guests ranged from older to younger travelers. The whole place has the nostalgic feel of Japan in the 1960s and 1970s, with genuine hospitality.
I come mainly for the visitors' onsen. There’s just one bath and nothing fancy about it, but the water is great. Maybe it’s the salt content, but I still feel warm a few hours after bathing. The old-fashioned game center is best avoided, most of the crane machines are broken.
Quiet and convenient, with helpful staff. It was okay, nothing too special.
It was good, and the service was almost too good.
The facilities have a retro feel, and the hospitality is what makes the hotel memorable. I’d stayed before and came back to Kaike Onsen again, partly because I remembered the origami crab in the tea caddy. The private baths in the rooms are another highlight. You can also see precious Showa-era glass that’s no longer made.
