Hotel Sanada

For around 3800 yen, it’s good value. The hotel is near the train station, and the place was relatively clean, with separate air-conditioning and free breakfast. It’s an old, small hotel, though, and both the room and bathroom are tight. I noticed dust in some corners, and the walls are thin. You can’t expect much more at this price, but your neighbors are down to luck.

The staff were very polite and made me feel at ease, and I appreciated getting breakfast at this price. The location was easy to get to, and the rate was very reasonable. My room was nicely equipped and, though a little old, was fine for sleeping. The electric blanket kept me from getting cold. A good option if you’re after an affordable stay.

The room turned out to be quite convenient: it was spacious, had a huge TV, lots of outlets and hangers, and the sink was outside the unit bath. There were electric blankets too, and the station is close. Still, the hotel felt so retro when I arrived that I was a little uneasy, especially with the small old-fashioned front desk. The door didn’t lock automatically, so I had to make sure to lock it whenever I went out. The hot water took a while to warm up, and even then there wasn’t enough hot water to fill the tub, so I gave up and showered. The unit bath also felt pretty humid. Breakfast is included, but it’s just bread, coffee, and a boiled egg, with a limit of two rolls, one coffee, and one egg. You collect it from a tray set up by reception and eat in your room. They apparently let you leave the food there afterward. It was cheap, which helped, but you get what you pay for.

I keep booking this place for work trips to Yonago because the low price makes sense. It’s close to Yonago Station, and parking is available for just 480 yen a night, which is handy if you drive. The building is clearly old, but it’s maintained well enough and comfortable if all you need is a place to sleep. Breakfast comes with the stay: two rolls, a boiled egg, and hot coffee. I’d have liked some vegetables, but for the price it’s a welcome, easy start on a busy morning. A practical choice for business travelers who don’t need many amenities.
