Tanpopo Inn

There’s a lot of nature around the inn, and I even spotted a group of monkeys. The owner, an auntie, runs the place by herself, so it seems she takes only two groups a day. Dogs can come along to the restaurant and stay overnight. It isn’t a hot spring, but you can pretty much have the bath to yourself and relax. Dinner includes Yonezawa beef, and the stay is inexpensive.

The food was a real highlight: homemade dishes, Yonezawa beef, and Tsuyahime rice were all fantastic. We arrived quite late for our one-night family stay with our dog, but they were flexible and helpful. The welcome was warm and the service attentive, just what you’d hope for at a small guesthouse. Our dog had a stress-free night, and the cute resident dogs were a treat for us too. Very dog-friendly. If you like guesthouses and dogs, give it a look♪

Yonezawa beef yakiniku was the main event, with thick slices of meat, fresh vegetables, and the owner’s homemade side dishes. The Tsuyahime rice was just right too. We wanted a quiet place where we could relax in a tatami room and eat well, and it was much cooler and more comfortable than central Yonezawa. We stayed one night and would happily come back. Thank you very much.

There’s plenty of food, so you’ll leave full, and the area is surrounded by nature with lots of fallen leaves. I came back for a second visit on November 13, 2022, using the nationwide travel support program. The elderly woman running the restaurant on her own was very kind and helpful. The parking is behind the building, but the uneven surface makes it inconvenient.
