There’s barely any information about this place online, and you have to book by phone. Sometimes you just can’t get through, lol, and you can only reserve once you do. I kind of like imagining it as an inn where only people who are invited get to stay. I hope it keeps going. It’s quite old, but the glass by the entrance is beautifully polished and gives the place a nice feel. There was fragrant incense burning in the lobby, too.

I came in autumn for the foliage, but next time I’d like to visit during cherry blossom season. The view outside stretches across the Yoshino mountains, and the morning birdsong really lifted my mood. After the rain, the mist hanging over the hills had its own charm. The proprietress was kind in a very natural, unpretentious way. The seasonal ingredients and local Yoshino dishes were delicate, colorful, and incredibly tasty.

The location was good, but that was about the only thing I liked. The facilities are old, which is understandable in the Yoshino mountains, but when we arrived we couldn’t find any sign for the emergency exit. My friend had recently had surgery for colon cancer, so I’d asked through the travel agency for food that would be easy to digest. They couldn’t provide it, and the meal was bamboo shoots, bracken, and konjac. I was surprised they hadn’t told the agency about the limitation so other options could be offered. There was no refrigerator in the room, the futon was thin, and the food was heavily salted. The stay left me with no good impression.

The owner was kind and pleasant, but the food was just average, and not having a refrigerator was inconvenient. What I can’t forgive is being served two bottles of alcohol that had expired a year earlier when I ordered drinks from the inn. It was really unpleasant. Please check carefully before drinking.

We arrived on April 2, 2019, a week before the cherry blossoms were at their peak. Our family of six turned out to be the only guests, which was a surprise. The room was roomy and clean, and both dinner and breakfast were clearly prepared with care. The location was ideal too.
