Yoshinoso Yukawaya

The food was a standout, especially the Earth-ware Steamed Pot, packed with mushrooms and rich in flavor. I also loved their original Saigyo-nabe (registered trademark), with its kudzu broth and unusual texture. The homemade plum wine had a fresh taste and gentle sweetness, and the sesame tofu that started dinner was unbelievably delicious. The room was clean and neatly arranged, with cheerful drawings and statues tucked into the corners. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles, and the location made exploring Mt. Yoshino easy. Zaoudou was less than a five-minute walk away.

The staff were lovely, the food was good, and the Onsen was excellent. The Japanese style room, though, looked dated and seemed not to have been updated for a while. In my view, the hotel's room photos didn't show its actual condition.

Dinner was sublime, and the little trip to see fireflies was really sweet. The baths were phenomenal, with a beautiful view. We didn't know the customs, but the staff made us feel welcome and helped us with anything we found unclear or unfamiliar. I'm so glad we picked this place.

We loved the food, especially the arrowroot (kudzu) hotpot. We stayed two nights, and every breakfast and dinner was different and really good. The ryokan was lovely, too, with an outdoor bath and views that were hard to beat. My husband and I came for our honeymoon, and everyone was so friendly and kind. Some staff spoke English, and they always had helpful ideas for things to do. They even cleaned my muddy shoes. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Mount Yoshino. Thanks to the whole team for making us feel so welcome and helping us out.
