The cabins are simple but comfortable, and it's a beautiful place. Driving there was quite difficult, but they offer a free shuttle from the cabin to the onsen whenever you need it. The staff were nice, and my dogs seemed to enjoy it too. There's a dog friendly hotel next door with lots of dog parks/run, a dog onsen, and a pool for dogs. You can use those for a small fee, since they're not part of Ninomaru.

It was quiet and relaxing in this remote spot, with spacious rooms and an amazing view. We came as a big group, and the owner was so accommodating to all of us. Towels and wash were included at the onsen. A lovely stay!

We stayed over Golden Week in a really beautiful log cabin. There were outlets all over the place, two air conditioners, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The kitchen was fully equipped, so you could probably cook if you bring ingredients, but open flames are strictly forbidden and there's just one induction stove. We had the shabu-shabu dinner course delivered to our room, and it was more than enough. The kids loved the fried chicken side dish. The lean Wagyu beef was delicious with the light ponzu and sesame sauce. From the west-facing balcony we watched a beautiful sunset, and later the stars looked spectacular and close. Guests can use the nearby Ninomaru Onsen for free. Towels, bath towels, and disposable slippers are provided, and they'll drive you there if you call. Check-in is at the onsen, where the atmosphere felt homey and the staff were incredibly kind. I regret not eating at Strikeken, the ramen restaurant attached to the hotel, so I'd definitely like to come back.

It's been renovated since my last visit, and it's very clean now. The hearth is gone. Instead, there's a room with two beds and two futons, plus a kitchen, toilet, and shower. The furniture and tableware look like they're from IKEA. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and plenty of outlets made the stay comfortable. There's just one induction burner in the kitchen, and open flames, including BBQs, are strictly prohibited, so you'll have to get creative if you want to cook. Reception staff were few and not particularly friendly.

Ninomaru Onsen's water was excellent. My skin felt so smooth afterward. The locker room and changing room are far apart, though, with lots of stairs in between, which could be hard for older people. The log cabin is up in the mountains, so it was quiet and nice. Unfortunately the weather was bad, and I couldn't see the starry sky.
