It was a perfect hot spring visit, and I really hope to return soon to see that piggy again. The manager was so kind that night. He went out to dinner with me outside the hotel, along with two other American and English guys who were working at that hot spring hotel. They were very kind too.
They offer free luggage delivery and pickup at Yufuin station, which was awesome. Both the public and private hot springs were pretty good, and communicating with the staff in English was easy.
A wonderfully private place!
For the high room rate, this guesthouse was a definite disappointment. The rooms smelled musty, and all the electrical outlets were broken and deteriorated, with no sign they’d been cleaned. Three rooms upstairs shared a single toilet. Outside, there was just one tap, and it had no hot water. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
We really liked the atmosphere and the hot spring water. Parking was right beside the accommodation, which was handy with our rental car. Pickup is also available if you call ahead. The owner speaks English well, so communication was easy. It’s outside central Yufuin, and there aren’t restaurants or convenience stores nearby, so make sure to arrive early. Our double room was upstairs, while the bathroom and hot spring downstairs were shared. We could reserve an evening time slot, which was fine, but having to use the hot spring in the morning before checkout was a little inconvenient.
