Ryokan Shiori

We did half board for both nights and were really glad we did. The food was delicious and generous, and everything seemed carefully made at home. Beer with the meals was reasonably priced too. Our room was large, with a lovely view over the valley and the mandarin trees. Since it was the start of the season, we bought some from their mandarin farm, and they were so sweet. The baths were clean and well kept. They switched the men's and women's baths from day to night, so we got to try both, one large and one smaller. When we arrived at the station, we called to ask for a ride without arranging it ahead, and they kindly came to pick us up. The father explained a bit about the town and Ryokan Shiori in English, and we enjoyed hearing about the family, his parents, wife, and two sons. We hadn't made plans, so one of the sons suggested manyu park, drove us there, and told us to call when we wanted a ride back. That was just one of the many ways Ryokan Shiori made us comfortable and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable.
