The inn is close to the mountains, but still just a little over an hour from Tokyo by bullet train and about a three-minute walk from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. Its location gives it access to mountain vegetables and seafood from the Sea of Japan, and the Japanese course meal I had made great use of local ingredients. They also served Niigata sake. The breakfast was so good that next time I’ll definitely book two meals. There’s a spacious communal bath with a sauna on the first floor, plus an open-air bath upstairs with a lovely mountain view. My room had its own bath, which felt reassuring for women, and was just right for relaxing in a futon with tea and sweets while watching TV. The building also has a souvenir shop, and you can buy boxes there to ship parcels. I came away with wonderful memories and would love to return. It felt like finding a little paradise for great hot springs and course meals. I’d recommend this inn if you’re visiting the Yuzawa area.

We stayed several nights and checked out on 7 Mar 2026. We’re Hongkongers, and we both thought the hotel was great and very good value. The outdoor spa and the other facilities and services we needed were there. Staff made up the beds each night and tidied the rooms, and hotel guests can rent skis at a very cheap price. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel, which saved us time searching for somewhere to eat when restaurants were fully booked. The meals were great. We missed the place as soon as we left and will definitely come back.

Hotel Inamoto was in a quiet area, and the traditional tatami room felt cozy and calming. It was spacious too, with plenty of room to relax. The peaceful setting made it a good place to rest, reflect, and do a little soul-searching. Convenience is close by despite the quiet surroundings, with a 7-Eleven right across the street for snacks or anything we needed. I had a wonderful stay in Yuzawa and would highly recommend Hotel Inamoto for its traditional comfort, calm atmosphere, and handy location.

Back for my second stay, and the food has improved! It was an enjoyable visit, close to the station and right in front of the orange and blue shuttle bus lines.

The least professional customer service I’ve ever dealt with. Thank goodness I cancelled my booking. What an absolute joke. Avoid!
