Wako-san was a wonderful host. She was friendly, thoughtful, and incredibly helpful, picking us up and dropping us off in Togatta more times than we could count. Her local tips were great, and she made us some of the best breakfasts we've had in Japan. Definitely try her cooking. We spent most evenings in the onsen, which was absolutely lovely. We were lucky to be the only guests for much of our stay, so we had it to ourselves and didn't feel a need to visit the other onsens in town. The pension was comfortable for a longer stay, with a well-equipped, spacious and pleasant room. The setting is beautiful and quiet, though it's a little way from town. Walking to Togatta Onsen took about an hour. It was a nice walk there, but the fairly steep uphill return could be tiring, so keep that in mind if you won't have a vehicle.

The hot spring was wonderful, and breakfast was lovely. Such beautiful accommodation and a kind host. I can't really describe how great it was. I'll be back soon.

The rooms were clean, and having a desk in each one could make this a good spot for a workation. The staff were very kind, and for this price it felt like a great place to stay. Breakfast was a real highlight. There were lots of vegetables, plus a range of side dishes and breads, almost like a buffet. I ate there two mornings in a row and the menu changed each day, which was very satisfying. The free-flowing hot spring was excellent too. The water felt great, and I came away relaxed.
