Kappa no Yado Ryokan Sanjiro

You get a lot of thoughtful service here, and everything is kept to a high standard despite the ryokan having so many rooms. The only thing that fell short for me was the lack of scenic views, though I don't think the scenery would justify paying more in this case. In a more popular tourist area, I'd expect this kind of setting and service to cost twice as much, and maybe three times as much in the busiest places, like gawaguchigo. I really enjoyed the care and service here.

The facility was clean and the staff were very nice when I came for a day visit. There are four private bath rooms, but using them costs extra. The water isn't entirely natural hot spring water, as it's diluted, so there was almost no hot spring smell. I didn't notice any chlorine smell.

Even the smaller rooms feel spacious, and all the food was lovely. After dinner there's plenty to enjoy, including several onsens and a sauna. The staff service was excellent, and the whole stay felt worth the price.

I thought the view and room were nice. You can find better, of course, but the price here is very reasonable, especially with the private onsen included at no extra charge. Dinner impressed me most. It was delicate and delicious, and looked just as enjoyable as it tasted.
