Kaskazi Beach Hotel

The views are genuinely amazing, and the location gives this hotel a lot of potential. But I left immediately because the condition of the rooms and the service were unacceptable. They were outdated and unpleasant, with uncomfortable beds, TVs that didn’t work, dirty bathrooms, a barely working shower, salty water, and no soap. Even check-in was slow and disorganized, with no welcome drink. The dining area was poorly managed, napkins were missing, and the food didn’t taste fresh. This place needs major renovation, stronger management, and much higher service standards. Working with a reputable international hotel brand might transform it. I’d only consider returning after a full upgrade and professional management. Until then, I can’t recommend it.

The sea view is fantastic, but the experience feels more like a three-star hotel, even though the rates are in line with other four-star places. The rooms are basic, and there’s no room service or phone, so every request means walking to reception. WiFi is especially poor on the upper floors, and the TVs rely on that signal. Maintenance staff have to come check them now and then. Cleaning seems unpredictable. Staff come in when you leave, and you can’t safely leave things out. Once I was away for two hours and returned to find my door unlocked. There are no do-not-disturb signs, and the old-fashioned keys also feel like a security concern.

The breakfast was my favorite part, with lots of choices and healthy options. We went for a little getaway and I was disappointed by the room, though. The shower didn’t work properly and nearly scalded me, lol. I was looking forward to table tennis, but although they had a table, there was no net, bat, or balls. The place needs renovation, which might explain why it was so quiet.

The views and garden could be lovely, but the grounds are poorly maintained and the hotel doesn’t feel like a four-star place. The hotel feels dead, the food was awful, and my family and I all got stomach upsets after eating there. Breakfast was the same every day, with no variety or creativity. There were no sports activities for the kids, and mine got bored. Our room had a broken shower, old rusty taps, a broken toilet roll holder, and a kettle switch that wouldn’t work, so I had to turn it off manually and unplug it. The fans in the room and dining area looked as if they were about to come loose. There are no phones in the rooms, and no dryer or iron either. You have to keep asking at reception and walking back and forth, and the iron is shared. Management seemed uninterested, and I was exhausted from trying to get their attention. They don’t seem to care once you’ve paid in advance. By the third day there was still no WiFi in my room, so I had to sit at reception with my four-year-old to use it and got bitten by mosquitoes. My mosquito net was broken, nobody fixed it, and I was bitten several times in the room. The Italian Restaurant and Sea food Restaurant are far from the resort. Beach boys may add things to the Wasini Island trip to see dolphins, so be aware: you don’t swim with them, you see them from a distance on the boat. The coral wasn’t that great either. I asked for a refund from Tuesday so I could move to other accommodation halfway through the stay, but was told it had to be discussed with Booking.com and any refund would go to Booking.com. I had no hope of finding better accommodation for my family during our holiday, which was meant to be enjoyable, so we were forced to stay. Booking.com doesn’t check and verify hotels, so it’s at your own risk. The place has great views and a garden, but I wouldn’t book it.
