Tradewinds Lodge Diani Beach Kenya Hotel

This place is so good it almost feels wrong to share the location. It’s close to the beach and shopping, usually quiet, with nice staff, plenty of wildlife nearby and good space to park. The pool is nice too. We paid $190 for five nights. My only feedback: there are a few sharp tiles in the pool, and the room’s trash bin could be bigger.

We’ve stayed here more than once, and keep coming back because it’s our favorite in Diani Beach for comfort and value. The service is excellent, and the caring, attentive staff make you feel looked after. Our room was comfortable and had all the amenities, with a lovely view of the garden and pool. The grounds are green, well maintained and have convenient parking. We especially liked the pool, with different depths for adults and children. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy, with no city noise, and we felt very safe. The property is secure, and the internet is fast and reliable. The beach is a three-minute walk away, while shops, restaurants, a pharmacy and a bank are 7-10 minutes away. We’re happy to return again.

The peaceful gardens, sounds of nature and warm welcome made me feel at home as soon as I arrived at Tradewinds Lodge. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the pool was refreshing. The whole place felt cared for, with attention to detail in every corner. The staff were friendly, attentive and genuinely wanted to make my stay a good one. The lodge is just minutes from Diani Beach, while tucked away enough to feel quiet and private. Each day left me feeling refreshed and inspired, surrounded by the beauty of the Kenyan coast. I left grateful and already planning another visit. A really lovely stay.

The management was poorly coordinated and the manager behaved very unprofessionally. We arrived to find out on site that the hotel was overbooked. Nobody had told us beforehand, so we were stranded and had to accept a downgrade that cost us extra. Nearby businesses told us this wasn’t the first time it had happened. Replying to the owners: your response is inaccurate. We booked directly through your staff, not Booking.com, and had been in touch before arriving. We were only told on site, after we got there, that you couldn’t accommodate us. Booking.com did not cancel our reservation. We were left stranded and forced into a downgrade, with additional costs. Several nearby properties also said this had happened before. Shifting the blame to a third party doesn’t change how poorly this was handled on the ground. I stand by my review.
