Kijani Cottages Beach

I’ve had terrible experiences here before, and I’m shocked that people have been complaining about “Jerry” for years while he still works there. I complained myself, shared other women’s stories, and was present when others raised concerns about his harassment. Women have said he followed them to their rooms, tried to get them to join him in his room, and drove them to isolated places against their will. He also drinks and drives, including when transporting guests, and is generally always drunk. The owners and staff have been told about all of this, but clearly nobody has cared enough to act. Please protect yourself and stay away. There are plenty of other options in Diani.

I stayed here from 23rd to 25th Dec 2025 and left disappointed. The villa seemed neglected: there were no window curtains, the cooker was in bad shape with leaking gas, and there were no overhead fans, so the heat was unbearable. Jerry was very unprofessional, and the manager didn’t respond. The other staff were pleasant and gave excellent service. I moved out after one day to find somewhere else to stay.

I booked the Wasani Dolphin tour with manager ‘Jerry’ about three weeks ahead and confirmed several times that it was for Saturday 22nd. I even spoke to him in person the night before about being picked up at 7:30am. I was waiting from 7am, but he ignored my calls until after 9am, then said he thought it was Sunday. I have proof of the Saturday booking and our conversations. By then it was too late to book another tour because all the boats had gone. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend booking with him. It was completely unprofessional, and “he forgot” and “slept in” are no excuse.

We had a great camping retreat at Kijani Cottages with our corporate team of around 150. There was plenty of space for team-building and outdoor cooking, and check-in and check-out went smoothly, which made managing a big group easier. The bathrooms had both hot and cold showers. After swimming, the pool and cabanas were a nice place to relax, read or get some work done. The bar was lively, with a pool table, darts and good music. There’s also a playground with swings that the adults enjoyed as much as the kids. The beach is about a 10-minute walk, and Ukunda Town is a few minutes away by car, with banks, restaurants, bars and malls. Jerry, the manager, was friendly and made sure things ran smoothly. All the staff were welcoming, and the security made us feel safe. One small suggestion: keep the bar open a bit later for those wanting to hang out after a long day. We had a great retreat and are looking forward to coming back.
