The Junction Hotel

I paid for two, but the room hadn’t been prepared for two people. It wasn’t cleaned, the mat was dirty, there was no tissue, the TV didn’t work, and the Wi-Fi was slow. I didn’t have the energy to complain because these basics should be obvious when you’re providing a service. When you pay, you should be treated accordingly. I honestly won’t go back.

The only real hassle was the roadwork outside, which made getting in a bit tricky. A lounge would be a welcome addition too. Otherwise, Junction hotel was nearly flawless for us: a great location, cheerful and helpful attendants, and the best value for money in Nyanza.

We arrived without warning in the middle of the night, and the staff handled it efficiently. The rooms were clean and beautifully finished, well beyond what we expected, and the food was amazing. From the balconies, you get open views of the Kisii slopes, lovely for sunrise meditation or evening drinks while watching the slow traffic below. It’s a real gem offering a superior product despite its location. It’s just outside town at the Kisii - Oyugis Road junction, so access is easy.

There’s free WiFi, and the rooms have safes along with plenty of space and good furnishings. They also provide extras you don’t find in many hotels, like a toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream and blades, and a hair dryer. The furniture is good, parking is ample, and there’s a restaurant and bar on site.
