The view of Mount Kenya is lovely, and it’s an affordable place to visit with family or friends.

I especially enjoyed the tennis court, it’s superb. Swara Ranch has a great atmosphere, and there are all kinds of activities to enjoy. The food and service were top notch too. Kudos to the whole Maiyan and Swara family, especially Alex, the supervisor.

It’s such a cool, quiet place for a holiday with kids. You can sleep so peacefully that you might not know it’s morning until the birds wake you with their songs. There are lots of activities for children, including swimming at the nearby Maiyan resort, which they work closely with. You can also buy fresh vegetables at the maiyan’s place for reasonable prices.

We only stayed briefly, but it was very comfortable. The check-in went smoothly and the reception staff were pleasant. Swara Ranch is a sister facility to Maiyan Nanyuki, about 500m from Maiyan’s entrance. Breakfast is served at Maiyan, where the restaurant is, and the food gets five stars from me. The three-bedroom accommodation at Swara Ranch feels homely and would suit a family or group. I’m not sure whether they have other options, so you can call to ask.

The bungalows are beautiful, and having access to the Maiyan swimming pool is a real plus.
