The Fairview no longer has the policy of charging for "non-registered guests," which previous owners had in place. Anyone with experience in Kenya knows that this is a polite way of saying the hotel doesn’t tolerate prostitution. Since the policy ended, a small number of guests openly bring prostitutes into the hotel, including to the restaurants and through the lobby to and from rooms. It’s a minority, but they do it without shame. On my recent stay, I saw a guest celebrating his exploits in the lobby and clearly told the hotel I was unhappy about the presence of prostitutes. This isn’t the current staff’s fault. The ownership is responsible, while staff are put in the awkward position of having to cater to guests’ preferences. The new owners need to bring back a no-tolerance policy. I’ve stayed at the Fairview many, many times over the past 20 years. Before the new ownership took over this year, I never saw this behaviour here, even though it’s all too common elsewhere. I don’t like leaving this review, but these practices only change when guests speak up.

Greenery surrounds the hotel, with lovely views all around. Walking among the trees and plants feels like a nature walk, and you can smell the fresh greenery. The food is scrumptious, served in large, good-looking portions, and there’s a touch of green inside the rooms too. The whole hotel has a luxurious nature feel and is a wonderful place for a photo shoot. Easily five stars.

It’s lovely to see that the beautiful hotel still looks as it did when our family stayed there in 2009/2010, before and after a safari. We had two lovely rooms with stunning views, the staff were amazing, and the meals were to die for. Age and medical issues have sadly kept us from returning. These ratings reflect our visit.

During my short stay at the Fairview Hotel in Nairobi, I found the hotel beautifully renovated and the atmosphere very welcoming. The service was excellent, especially from receptionist Maureen, who was helpful, attentive, highly competent, and genuinely welcoming. As a long-standing IHG Spire Elite Member, I pay close attention to service quality, and Ms. Wambui stood out in a positive way. She represented the IHG Group’s values exemplarily and made my stay more enjoyable. I’d gladly return and highly recommend the hotel.

The conference rooms were very neat, and the lush green surroundings were perfect. Meal service was excellent, and the washrooms were clean and well thought out.
