Hotel Southern Blue

The front desk staff were very nice, but the room service woman was extremely rude. She opened the door and came straight into the bathroom without knocking, then insisted she had knocked and no one answered. My bags were on the bed, so I don’t understand where the confusion came from. The next day she was very rude again because I’d used a towel on the floor after slipping in the very slippery shower and using it to steady myself. Even after I explained, the housekeeper charged me to have it cleaned and spoke to me rudely.

Need somewhere to stay a few minutes’ drive from Nairobi CBD? This is a handy option in Ngara, close to Equity Bank.

The balcony gets a lovely breeze in the late evening, and the restaurant is quiet. Southern Blue has clean, functional rooms of a decent size. They don’t serve alcohol, which I see as a plus. The view isn’t much, and parking could be a problem for me, though security keeps an eye on cars parked on the street by the entrance.

For 1500 a day, the room was decent value, and the staff were good. There’s a restaurant and shops downstairs, but noise from the neighboring rooms became a problem during my five-day stay, so I moved elsewhere.
