The safari was the worst part of our stay, and management’s response made the experience even more upsetting. We paid Crocodile Camp for two days of safari, including its guides and vehicle. For hours, the guide and driver argued over directions as they drove through grass far from any road. We were clearly lost. The driver got angry and drove recklessly over a field of large boulders. The car broke down two minutes later, and we waited hours for a pickup. We saw very few animals that day despite paying a lot for the trip. When we explained what happened, management acted as if we were lying. They said we had to pay out of pocket for the rescue car because the guides had called the wrong person. We didn’t think we should pay for their mistake. Instead of handling things with their guides, they left us to deal with them. The guides came over angry and shouting, while management was nowhere to be seen. We spent the night arguing with different people, and I didn’t feel safe sleeping there. We left the next morning after paying for our accommodation and food. We only refused the extra rescue-car charge. Management was deeply unprofessional, and this was a nightmare.

Seeing hippos, giraffes, and other animals from our balcony as soon as we arrived was a lovely surprise. The room looks straight out to Massai Mara National Park, and the view is incredible. We found the tents comfortable and the place very peaceful. The staff were kind, attentive, and efficient, and we felt welcome from the start. We hadn’t expected such a nice place when we booked. Definitely a great place to stay for a visit to Massai Mara National Park.

The food was delicious, the staff were excellent, and the location opposite the MM made the rustic feel easy to live with. Our army-style tent at Crocodile camp had a comfortable netted bed and a private bathroom. It’s not luxury, though: the water smelled metallic, there were occasional power cuts, and some wear and tear. We booked our safari and tribe visit here. Jonathan, our Maasai guide with 20 years of experience, gave us an exhilarating day on the plains. Caleb also helped arrange our onward trip to Nairobi. We’ll treasure the memories, and highly recommend the camp, especially for budget travelers who can organize as they go.

The water smells pretty bad, but staying right beside the Masai Mara, with hippos and crocodiles nearby, is part of the experience. The staff are friendly and the food is nice. If you can choose, get a bigger tent, and check that the mosquito nets don’t leak.
