Blue Bay Cove, Penthouse 4

The property was clean and clearly well cared for. Ann, Sarah, John, and the rest gave us great service. We had a lovely time trying local seafood and Italian food, exploring marine life, and taking in the bay views in the warm breeze. I’d absolutely come again.

The staff and cook were excellent, and we felt very safe during our stay in the two bedroom sea view apartment. The location is convenient, right by the ocean, main road, and other restaurants. A few things to know: the apartments sit above a cliff, and the direct ocean access is rocky. There’s another beach reachable via the apartment's beach route or from the main road by the road leading to the Kokomo Beach Bar and Restaurant. Some apartments show their age, with doors that don't slide smoothly and some rusty spots. There's no restaurant on site, so you'll need to cook yourself or ask the team to arrange a cook. The cook can also shop for groceries if you want.

The staff at Blue Bay were so kind and helpful. The living area and kitchen both look out to sea, as do the two bedrooms. One room has a large sea facing balcony, while the other is smaller but still has the view. Since the apartments sit by the creek, you can hear water hitting the rocks at high tide. Really lovely apartments.

We came as a group of 27, with families, kids, and nannies, and all had a great time. The apartments worked well for us, and the kids loved the spotless, well-kept pool so much they didn't want to leave. The rooms and living areas are spacious, with a coastal feel, and the duplex units have two or three bedrooms, sea views, and balconies. The staff were very friendly. A chef can cook what you ask for, and that worked out cheaper than eating out. There’s no restaurant or bar on site, so plan to cater for yourselves. Our chef made lovely sunny-side-up eggs. The location is handy for Malindi Airport, about a 25 minute drive. Coming from Mombasa Airport or the SGR takes around 2.5 hours. There are restaurants about 200m away, plus the Saturday Papa Remo Beach Party. The stairs down to the beach are very steep, so be careful with children, and the beach is rocky with brittle sand. An amazing cove is about five minutes away. A few things could be better. The tissues, towels, and soap felt below the standard of the place. Night swimming would be nice, as would a bar or spa services. The stairs in the two bedroom apartments are especially steep and need wooden rails. A shared cloakroom by the pool could help. The generator can be very loud, so soundproofing it would be good. WiFi could also be improved, though I never used it because we were busy having fun. It's an ideal family holiday spot, and we'll be back next year.
