We loved the calm spot and those lovely views. The gardens and rooms were great, and the location puts snorkelling and supping right at your doorstep. Paddling through the mangroves felt magical. The vibe and staff were wonderful, and both the food and cocktails were delicious. We just got back from a one-night stay and already know we'll return. Thanks for making it memorable! 💕

There are only six rooms, but so much shared space that it feels like the place is yours. The staff are efficient and friendly, and Mariam, the manager, will sort out what you need. I was lucky enough to meet the owner too. They were engaging and friendly, and the place has a fascinating history. The food is great overall. I'd skip the fillet, but the pizzas and breakfast are excellent. Day visitors are welcome, which is understandable, though a loud family with kids can disrupt poolside relaxation. There are other private corners to escape to, or you can swim at the beautiful private beach. It's a little tricky to reach by public transport, but getting there by boat from the Lichthaus is easy, and they can arrange it when you book. I hired a SUP and explored the creek, and there are lots of other watersports too. Watamu's hidden secret really lives up to the name. It's one of the best places I've stayed during three months of overlanding in Africa, and high on my list to revisit.

The suites are peaceful and relaxing, and there's a cove that feels private. A free boat takes you across the creek, and that was the best option for us. It was a little difficult to get here from the main road, but well worth the trip. Only six suites, but plenty of comfy places to lounge: hammocks, nets, sun loungers, swings, and swing beds, plus a small pool. The staff were lovely and their hospitality was humble. This has been our best stay so far. Highly recommend if you're after a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Ashante sana! J&S (stayed at Coco suite, Dec 25)

We loved the peaceful atmosphere, friendly staff, and beautiful view over the creek. The hotel is on the other side, but a captain runs a small boat across, so it's easy to reach the beach. You can also take a tuktuk into Watamu center. If you eat at the hotel restaurant, try the tuna or prawn curry. Both are really good!

Everyone on the team made me feel welcome. I've just arrived from Portugal, and already feel at home in this excellent, welcoming place. Congratulations to everyone. I think this is going to be a great holiday.
