The ONE

The staff are part of the experience too. I feel like employees often reflect how their employers treat them, and that may be showing here. The pools are hard to comment on because I can't see the bottom, and they don't look clean. The grounds feel dusty, the parking isn't paved, and the walkways to the rooms are faded and in need of paving. The plants around the hotel look scorched by Watamu's hot sun. Maybe I'll come back in the rainy season, though watering the vegetation more could help in the meantime. The food tastes good and is well prepared, but there's not much variety. The rooms are okay, yet something feels missing: perhaps the old curtains, plain walls, or the lack of a TV, even though there's a remote control. There's a cabinet, but no desk or chair. I think I'll write more later. I'm still enjoying the hotel.

After traveling for 12 hours, we arrived at 5:00 pm to find a bad smell and rooms so dirty they had to be cleaned again. There wasn't running water in the room, and no phone to call the front desk. This was the worst resort I've stayed at. I'd advise against booking here. You'll be very disappointed.

The One Watamu has a good physical space, but its directors and management need to do better with client service and partnerships, especially with business partners. I thought it was a trusted establishment, but my experience left me disappointed 👎.

The sea views are beautiful, though the beach isn't suitable for swimming. It's a large resort, but thankfully it was quiet, and the service was great.
