There was no hot water, and the roof leaked into the living room. The house has plenty of space and its general structure is nice, and we liked the pool, but it needs renovation and better upkeep. We had a 16-hour power outage with no backup. Our food spoiled in the fridge, and caretaking was poor: there was no solution, just one apology. There was no room service either. Our trash filled up, insects got into the kitchen, and we had to walk quite a distance to get a tuk-tuk. No direct beach access, either. The kitchen smelled awful and wasn't cleaned well. The amenities were poor quality and worn out, the dish rack was filthy and needed replacing, and the microwave smelled extremely bad. It was a sad experience for the high price we paid.

Franklin, the caretaker, was helpful and polite, and went out of his way to make us comfortable. The rooms have air conditioning, and I felt safe here. We hired Saleem as a personal chef and I'd highly recommend him. We bought local produce and ingredients in town. The beach is about a 15-minute walk away, and at low tide you can walk across to the islands. This place is fabulous, and I'd visit again.

A wonderful pool and a very nice spot for a holiday with friends or family. Go ahead and book your own chef. Some little maintenance jobs, like broken light bulbs or faucets, need attention.

The nearby beach has clean white sand, and we hired a chef with extraordinary talent. The owner was very helpful and understood what his guests needed. It was a wonderful experience for my family, and I'd highly recommend it. The property was beautiful and clean, with a superb pool. The villas were large, well equipped and exactly as advertised. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, and took care of every need.

Baobab Village, in rustic Wamatu, is an ideal tourist beach-house residence for a getaway. You can book any of the chalets for yourself or your family. The chef prepared memorable meals at affordable prices.
