Baytur Resort & Spa

The lake and the nature are beautiful, but I can’t recommend this place. The beach was covered in trash, the furniture was dirty, and it wasn’t cleaned. It felt unsanitary. Service was awful. Staff kept lying and seemed to have no idea what hospitality means. Almost nothing in the rooms worked, and the rooms and facilities were dirty. Most of the restaurants were closed, and the waiters didn’t know how to serve a table. Breakfast was horrible, with food from previous days. My wife got food poisoning. The hotel name is misleading. The whole place felt trashy, not even worth one star. Don’t waste your time or health here.

I stayed one day at the Baytur Hotel on Issyk-Kul, and the vacation was already spoiled at check-in. The booking video showed something better than what we actually got. The quality didn’t match the price. There was no water, so I tried calling to ask about it, but the room phone didn’t work. It might as well have been decoration. I had to go downstairs to find out why there was no water and why the phone was out of order. The first three pictures are what I saw when trying to book, the last two show what was actually there 😂

We’ve told the front desk three times about the broken refrigerator and the tub leaking onto the floor, and they evidently don’t care. I slipped and fell while trying to keep cleaning up the water. The tub needs caulking or sealing around it and all the cracks. At a resort where you pay good money, you need decent service. Someone at reception who speaks impeccable English and understands what guests are saying is really important.

The facilities are amazing, and there’s a great range of restaurants with food from around the world. The hotel deserves a visit, especially to see the lake. Our room was narrow, and the two single beds were so slim you couldn’t move in your sleep without risking a fall. I also had medicine that needed to stay cold. The fridge worked, but didn’t cool it. I tried calling reception, but the phone was dead. My friend checked the fridge and phone in the other room, and those didn’t work either. That’s why I gave the service only 2 stars.
